Fresh extract carries cannabinoids mostly in their acid forms. Those acids will decarboxylate somewhere — and if that somewhere is the boiler of a distillation system, the CO2 release fights the vacuum, foams the charge, and makes the run unpredictable.
Decarbing as its own step moves that reaction into a vessel built for it. Using heat with a relatively light vacuum, the reactor converts the acids and pulls off residual solvent and light volatiles in the same operation, so the charge arriving at the still is stable and already partly cleaned up.
Built as process equipment rather than scaled-up glassware — stainless throughout, on a frame that rolls.
